Family Portraits

Photographers from “Touch of Art” will be available on our school campus on Saturday the 14^th to take family portraits. Please take advantage of special portrait packages provided for Tavlian families. Christmas-themed backgrounds are available upon request. Photos will be taken on campus by the “Touch of Art” studio by appointment only.

Suzan & Kids

Our school’s beloved adopted grandmother and volunteer, Ms. Suzan, is set to read to our students about patriotism & soldiers on Monday the 9^th. Pilgrims and Native Americans will be the topic on Monday the 23^rd. As always, Ms. Suzan will donate the books to our school and provide snacks for our kids.

Animal Kingdom

On Tuesday the 10^th, we have an exciting in-house field trip scheduled.

We will have an animal magic show with live exotic animals.

Parent Teacher Conference

This is your opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher for a 45 minute chat about your child’s preschool experience. Your child’s homeroom teacher will post a sign-up sheet in the classroom.

Purple conference dates: Thursday the 12^th & Friday the 13^th

Red conference dates: Tuesday the 17^th & Wednesday the 18^th

Pre-K conference dates: Friday the 20^th & Tuesday the 24^th

Restaurant Fundraiser Night

Come join us for a fun, flavorful evening with families from Tavlian! We are hosting a restaurant night at the Pasadena California Pizza Kitchen restaurant on Thursday, November 12^th. CPK will donate 20% of the sales from our group to benefit Tavlian Preschool & Kindergarten. We encourage family and friends to attend the restaurant night. You may dine-in or take out; please be sure to submit your flyer to the restaurant upon payment.

Field Trip to Kidspace Museum

***This field trip has been canceled to prevent our students’ exposure to the flu.** An in-house field trip will be planned in its place.

Hatz Banir Night

Join us on Friday the 20^that 6 p.m. for our traditional story reading and “hatz banir” evening. We are delighted to announce that our special guest is author Takouhi Saatjian.

Holy Mass

Rev. Father Khoren Babochian will visit our school on Wednesday the 25^th. Our students will celebrate Holy Mass.

Thanksgiving Luncheon

On Wednesday the 25^th, the PSC will provide and serve a delicious hot turkey lunch to our students.

Bake Sale Sponsors

This month’s bake sale is sponsored by the Chatikachian family (Aram – Kindergarten & Raffi – Yellow class). We thank you for your generous contribution.

We are seeking sponsors for our monthly Bake Sales. If you are interested in contributing, kindly inform the school’s office.

CLASSROOM NOTE:

In response to the threat of swine flu, we have dispensers of hand sanitizer in the classrooms. The dispensers are placed next to the sign-in sheets and are easily accessible to the adults who are picking up and dropping off our students.  We ask that all adults entering the classrooms use the hand sanitizer before touching anything in the classrooms. The sanitizer is for use by adults only. The students will continue to wash their hands with soap and water.

Due to the excessive hand washing and use of white multifold towels, we would like to ask for donations of hand sanitizer and white multifold napkins.

Although sanitizer is in no way a substitute for proper hand washing, it will further assist in keeping viruses at bay with an additional measure of protection.

Box Tops For Education

Tavlian Preschool & Kindergarten has launched our Box Tops for Education fundraising campaign. Each month a collection sheet will be distributed. Please staple, tape or glue one box top coupon in each square indicated on the collection sheet. Sheets are to be submitted to your child’s teacher by the end of the month. Extra collection sheets can be found in the school’s office on the bulletin board. Anyone can support our school by turning in clipped Box Top coupons; please ask your Aunts and Uncles, Grandparents, friends and neighbors to contribute for you and your school.

After School Enrichment Program

We are thrilled to have so many enthusiastic dancers enrolled in the 2009-2010 “Little Angels” dance program. The “Little Angels” will perform at the school’s end-of-year programs. The dance group is open to the Pre-K and Kindergarten students only. Mrs. Marine Sogomonyan (Yellow group/Pre-K teacher) teaches the dance classes on Tuesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The dance fee is $50 per month. For those of you interested in signing up your daughters, please sign up in the office ASAP!

Armenia Fund Fundraiser

Tavlian Preschool is proud to be involved in a school-wide effort to raise funds for the Thanksgiving Telethon and Armenian Fund campaign entitled “Our Shushi.” Armenia Fund provides infrastructure development assistance and humanitarian aid for Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh.

A special lahmejune lunch donated by Armen Avakian of Sevan Bakery will be provided to students with your generous donation. Proceeds will be donated on behalf of Tavlian Preschool to the Armenia Fund. The 12^th International Telethon will be televised on Thursday, November 26^th from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and will be featured on a live webcast at www.armeniafund.org as well as on KSCI Channel 18.

Fashion Show

We are very pleased to announce that our Fashion Show was a huge success. We would like to thank all of you who supported the Fashion Show and helped our school raise much needed funds.

Bake Sale

The first Wednesday of every month we have a “Bake Sale” for the students. Each student purchases his/her breakfast for $1.00 a piece (please remember to send the money with your child).

Meetings are held in the school’s office at 8:30 a.m. We encourage all parents to join and bring ideas and suggestions.

Birthday Celebrations

– Thursday the 19^th

Students with a birthday in November will collectively celebrate their birthdays with their classmates on November 19^th. Parents are encouraged to view the festivities as the children sing “Happy Birthday” and eat their own cake made from scratch. Please ask your child’s teacher for details.

Sharing Days

Students are allowed to bring a book to school on the first Friday of the month. The following Fridays they are allowed to bring either a book or a toy to share with their classmates. Please label your child’s items.
