History

For a considerable time, the Armenian community in Pasadena recognized the need for an Armenian school. The Board of Trustees and the Ladies’ Guild of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Pasadena dedicated themselves to fulfilling this vision.

On November 13, 1991, Mrs. Hasmig Tavlian, a committed member of the Ladies’ Guild, passed away before seeing this dream realized. In honor of her wishes, her three sons took it upon themselves to turn her and the community’s aspirations into reality.

Thanks to the generous financial contribution from the Tavlian family and the unwavering support of the entire Pasadena Armenian community, the Board of Trustees successfully acquired the school property and established the Levon & Hasmig Tavlian Preschool.

The school officially opened its doors in 1992 with just four students. Since then, it has graduated hundreds of students and continues to thrive and grow, fulfilling its mission to provide quality education within a rich Armenian cultural environment.
